Brother

Boulders beneath. Surrounded by shrubs. From a distance, a growl pierces the air. Light on his feet, back to his place. Beyond the thick patch of cedars lies a rocky cliff; support for a man’s home. He slows to a walk and listens. He hears heavy breathing, logs falling, snout sniffing. Quietly he moves through the patch. Eyes wide. He approaches from the cliff, peering down from above he sees. His place destroyed and the culprit there. Anger. For the culprit? For anger is the man’s natural response. No, he is angry with himself. How could he be so stupid? The hungry culprit had found his food, salmon fresh from the ocean. How could he be so stupid? The culprit was not to blame. The real culprit was himself. A man’s place of peace and belongings had been destroyed and the man was to blame. His place of peace and belongings were unnatural in nature. His hungry brother taught him a difficult lesson…..

“We live in the same home. Our Mother’s home.”
