Clarity. The clarity that comes with the proper intent. The intent of the material shows in the knowledge the author can only express. The Expression which enlightens the reader only when read to. Patricia Smith brought clarity to her writing when she read it aloud. I was very confused by her poems and had a hard time following them. However when she read aloud the inflection she put on words was remarkably helpful in seeing her point. Also her personality seemed to change completely when she was reading aloud, expressing exactly what she wanted to in her writing.

History is not final. There are always more chapters to be written in a person’s life. A man changed in his journey and his intentions different. He discovered the environment and wrote more chapters and stories have been written. Rick Bass’ past includes studying petroleum geology in college which is not considered a largely environmental profession. Hearing him speak and finding a profession in something other than his education. I was inspired by this because it told me that if someone is passionate and very involved with their interests, they can pursue them as a career. I don’t feel completely attached to my major so I really enjoyed hearing him speak and it gave me ideas about my future.
